On this note, I would like to wish everyone all the very best for whats left of this 2012! I hope you all have had a productive and enjoyable year and have learnt loads from experiencing any hardships encountered. I have found that the opportunities for growth have been significantly abundant this year. Situations disguised as struggle or great relief have proven all to be highly beneficial to gaining a greater understanding about life, giving us a clearer idea about who we are, who we want to be, and reordering our priorities in life to work more in our favor. Life here was never going to be easy. It might even seem as though darkness is at an all time high, but hey, this is nothing more than us shining a stronger light. A light for us to see more of what lies hidden in the darkness, not only in this world, but within ourselves. No matter what happens, this is only a reflection of us in the process of shedding more of that darkness to rise above to a new level. So no matter what happens, just hang in there, we can totally do this.

Some of you may already know, but earlier in August I had once again teamed up with the guys at Udon, but this time to create some artwork for Marvel! For the time I had available I only could fit in 2 artworks, so I was assigned to create two artworks of Mystique. I thoroughly enjoyed working on her along with her backgrounds and Im happy to say that I've already completed both a few days ago. Not sure when this whole project will go public, but as soon as it does, you know I'll be sharing my version of her with you all!


I just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has purchased from my DA store! You have no idea how happy it makes me to know that my artwork is now finding homes around the world The support is totally awesome and hugely appreciated, so thank you so much! My cover of PowerGirl is finally taking form! It will be set for issue #27 which should be released sometime mid August this year. If that changes, I will keep you up to date. This one caters a lil more for the guys, but I hope you all will enjoy the cover! The cover artwork will be uploaded as soon as the issue has been launched.



Im very happy to announce that my MegaMan entry has made it into Udons MegaMan tribute art book. This is definitely something a bit different for me, so Im looking forward to seeing what you guys think! This tribute book is going to be seriously loaded with some amazing pieces of art from some very talented artists, so I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy. It launches at the San Diego Comic Con on the 27th of July 2011, which means thats when my entry will be launched online.

As many of you know, I entered my very first T-shirt contest held by StartledCow, which ended up being a lot of fun! As for what I'm busy with at the moment, the biggest project Im currently working on is for one of South Africa's top performing companies, Transman "Work  For Africa". What I've been asked to do is create a super hero team from across the universe by taking their top 13 employees (including the big boss) and turning them into super heroes. This is probably one of the most fun projects I've been put on, ever! So far I've completed 3 of them, and will only be able to unveil them publicly after the project have been finished. You'll finally be able to see a variation of not just woman, but men too!



This is to let everyone know that I'll be working on something quite out of the ordinary for me... Yes, A Mega Man submission for UDON's new fan art tribute contest! Hey there all you incredible creators! So as some of you may know, I was recently contacted by DC comics, and now Im finally one of their cover artists . Ive officially completed my very first DC cover for Power Girl a lil while ago, which is currently an inventory cover - kept until the perfect spot arrives. At the moment I can't give you any info about its usage, although there is talk about it being possibly used on a trade paperback collection of Power Girl stories. A soon as they let me know exactly what's happening with it, I'll fill you guys in!



Now this was pleasant surprise. I was contacted by ImagineFX to be their "Artist in Residence" for their upcoming issue 58 - The Manga issue! This will be the first time my base of operations will be revealed to the public. This issue will be going on sale in the UK 1 June and around a month later in the US.

Hey you guys! Just thought Id do a quick update on whats been happening on my side... Now this was something Ive been waiting for... a cover for UDON! Not too long ago, they contacted me about doing the cover to their 2nd trade paperback for Darkstalkers. I was quite excited about this, especially since the 1st cover was created by the legendary Shinkiro, so this was quite an honor! ...Yup, I think you guys know who I'll be illustrating The new Darkstalkers series starts this January, and this second volume TP will be out in May 2010, but expect to see this artwork up sometime this December!



So I was contacted by UK magazine, GamesMaster to do an interview with them along with 2 brief step by step tutorials. The first one covers my Chun-Li deviation, and the other is a more "how to draw" tutorial. For that one I covered how to draw Mickey Mouse... BUT in the style of Kingdom Hearts/Devil May Cry. This will be in their latest 219th issue (January 2010), which ALREADY started hitting stores on the 10th of November '09 in the UK. So make sure to keep an eye out for it!

Hey whatsup all you incredible human beings! Hope your all keeping yourselves positive and finely tuned to the best of your abilities and beyond!



So now, this was quite a surprise to me. I was checking my mail on my CGS account around the first quarter of last month (August) and I see this message from this dude, "I'd like to talk to you about doing an ImagineFX cover"... I was like, "whoa dude, like no way!" ...So my time had finally arrived! At first I wondered if id be able to finish what they wanted for the time given considering I was working on another job at the time, and im not the fastest artist ever, but everything flowed very smoothly. I even managed the time to fit in a full on 15 tips in a posing workshop for em. Dealing with the IFX team was an awesome experience. Theyre totally cool and make you feel right at home. The cover girl ended up being personally my most attractive girl to date, and the posing workshop was really a lot of fun to do, explaining how to approach what your about to take on.

So yeah, be sure to keep an eye out for ImagineFX's upcoming issue 49! Due the 22nd Sep for the UK/Europe, and for the rest of the world, sometime October ish!



In other news... Im back on surfer girl again and wow, I still have a long way to go, but most of it is done. Or so I think. Im wanting her to be my greatest achievement in my entire art life to date, so this will be no easy task!

I know its not really news anymore, but for those who dont know, Im glad to say that I made it into one of Udons tribute art books once again. This time it was with a Felicia entry for their Darkstalkers tribute art book. I'll post her on deviant as soon as the book has been launched at the San Diego Comicon in late July '09. Looks like this is gana be one hell of a tribute art book with all the talent its loaded with... I was surprised I even got in!



Otherwise Im still working on various other personal artwork in between all my other work that seems to almost always be storyboarding work. I just hope to finish the artwork I am still yet to name... (hmm, ill call her the 'surfer girl' for now) before the end of 2009... Will post others before it as I go a long though.

Hey whatsup everybody! Thought that since its been another long while, I might as well fill you on on whats been happening in my art life at the mo...

Things have been slow this january due to an excellent lengthy holiday, but things are now starting to pick up nicely again since Im back to work. Im currently busy with some storyboard work as usual... Oh! and if you guys didnt know, UDON are having another contest, and this time its for a Darkstalkers tribute. Im currently working on my submission, so it would be awesome if you guys could join in and be apart of it too! Check it out - [link] Deadline: March 1st.

As for my personal artwork...
Ive been working on an artwork on and off since beginning of 2008 which is still needing a lot more work. The style is a lil more realistic, but the main feature about her outfit and surrounding is something Ive never done before, so im wanting to get that done right. Im pretty excited about completing her since its something that I havnt really seen before, atleast not quite like this.
Other than that, I have about another 4 characters in the pipeline already, so hopefully that all goes smoothly

Anyway, before I go, I once again just want to thank each and every one of you all for the awesome support! I read all your messages, and Im sorry if I dont have time to reply to all of you but you guys really do inspire me to do the best I can!

I just wana thank everybody on deviant for the awesome support Ive received since Ive become a member here. I seriously appreciate it all! I havnt been able to thank everybody personally, but ive tried hard to get to most of you in between the crazy workload Ive had to endure recently.

Been mostly tight deadlined storyboard work as usual, but there are some new exciting illustrations I'll be adding soon, including new AWX art (Eri), one of the winning entries for the upcoming Street Fighter Tribute art book by UDON - my rendition of Cammy and an illustration for Ferrero Rocher are on the way and more, so definitely keep an eye out.

Anyway, thanks again everybody! Youve all definitely motivated and inspired me to just want to get better

So not that long ago I decided I would finally register on Deviant and to my horror discovered that "WarrenLouw" was already a member! I soon realised that this was not a split personality of mine... but an imposter who thought he/she could get away with it.

Luckily enough that was all cleared up via Deviants staff not too soon after, so here I am for the very first time on Deviant art. The real me, Warren Louw.
